Indian food: "Tandoori Chicken" from Penjub.

"Tandoori Chicken" or chicken marinated in a mixture of dahi (yogurt) with tandoori masala and then roasted.According to archeologists the earliest evidence for "Tandoori Chicken" was found in Harappan civilization and dates back to 3000 BCE, when first tandoors appeared.


In the late 1940s "Tandoori Chicken" was popularised at "Moti Mahal" reastaurant in Delhi. In the United States, its recipe was printed in the Los Angeles Times in 1963 specially for hostesses. Jacqueline Kennedy was reported to have eaten "Tandoori Chicken" on a flight to Bombay and liked the dish.

"Tandoori Chicken" is also used as the base of numerous cream-based curries such as "Murgh Makhani" and "Chicken Tikka Masala"
